Welcome to the jungle!!

Hello. My name is Gavin Rushnell, and welcome to the OC Lion's Blog website. I have a whole host of things in store for you including up to date news, a podcast, and my very own blog (which you are reading now). But first, a little about me. I love soccer. I've played it ever since I was 4. I also love Arsenal and have intensely watched almost every minute of every game since the 2010/2011 season. If you're wondering, yes RVP was my favorite player. Yes I was a little hurt that he left to go to Manchester United. But at the end of the day, he wanted to win the Premier League and he accomplished that, sooooo good job Robin :(.

Tangent done now, I'm from Melbourne, Florida which is on the east coast, about an 1 hr and 15 minutes southeast of our stadium. I went to West Shore High School where I was a part of the team that won the 2A Florida State Championship in 2017. My love for soccer, the proximity to Orlando, and my desire to learn more about the MLS, caused me to become an invested fan of OCSC when it was announced they would be in the MLS around 2014. Let me tell you, I have regretted that decision since they day I made it (just kidding). But in all seriousness it has been very stressful. I've been to 10 games and saw my first and only win this season when the club offered me free tickets to the FC Cincinnati game (they were trying to advertise the premium seating, which I have NO money for).

Favorite player of all time has to be Yotun as he was probably the highest quality player we've ever had (I mean in current play for all you saying Kaka and Nani, who were/are older and past their primes). Ruan is really chasing down that second slot as his performances and love for the fans is something you don't see every day. As for James O'Connor, I feel very split. For one thing, he has made us SO much more competitive and we've been unlucky to not have more points, but some of the results are so weird and don't make sense. If we want to be a playoff team, we can't lose to the struggling LA Galaxy 1-0 at home WITHOUT ZLATAN. But then we turn around and win 3-0 on the road against the 2nd place team in the East. We have yet to win 2 games in a row this season, which could be a blessing in disguise since we all know what happens after Orlando win streaks (21 game WINLESS streaks).

That's about it from me tonight. Just know I have a huge vision for this site and will be working incredibly hard to fulfill that vision. Feel free to comment your thoughts on my thoughts whenever you feel the need and I'll gladly engage in conversation with you.

Til' next time, this has been Gavin Rushnell and #VamosOrlando
