Orlando 1 - 0 Sporting KC Match Report

Game Review

What a massive 3 points for the boys. It was an ugly game but we have *finally* shown that we can win ugly in the MLS. This statement is not without it's caveats. SKC missed a massive chance through Feilhaber who sent a shot past the post in the latter stages of the game. It truly looked harder to miss the target than to hit it. We definitely rode our luck in that scenario but to be fair, we missed three opportunities that should have ended up in the back of the net. Dwyer missed an open header at the back post (no surprises here) after a beautiful cross from Mueller in the opening 2 minutes. Dwyer then had another chance in the second half. This time, he was found in wide open space on the weak side of the attack. He took two very poor touches that lead to him losing the space to drive into and effectively ending the attack. Finally, Kljestan had a chance to kill off the game late on when Nani played him in through on goal. Instead of shooting it hard along the ground, he tried to be cute and chip Melia. The goalie saved and the momentum-less ball was cleared off the line by Gutierrez. We very easily could have rued these misses and were very fortunate not too. Either way, we find ourselves above the red line on goal difference with 8 matches to go. The playoffs are in our hands now. We have to take full advantage of every "weaker" opponent from here on out if we are to break the curse and make it into the playoffs.

Lots of 7's from me tonight because it was that type of game. Everyone put in a shift. Dwyer gets penalized for his 2 wasted goal scoring chances as does Kljestan for missing his. Jansson gets MOTM for his heroic defensive efforts tonight. What would you have given?
