Daily Update: 12/10/2019

Some interesting stuff on the news front today.

Flamengo Friendly?

As reported by Coluna do Fla, the number one news source for Flamengo, we have submitted an offer for them too have their preseason in Orlando. The article states that they need to train abroad and we have offered them our training grounds. The article also says that, should Flamengo accept the offer, we would face them in a preseason friendly in Orlando. I, for one, am all for us playing against the Copa Libertadores champions in our preseason. Those types of games against better opposition show the team their weaknesses and allow the coaches to pinpoint exactly where we need to improve. Plus, they are a worldwide brand so we would gain some good funds just from playing them at home (should the game be televised).

Orlando eye a new GK

Reported by @CsaImperio on Twitter, Orlando City has submitted an offer for Vasco de Gama GK Jordi. The 6'3 26-year-old would most likely be brought in as the starting GK next season. A lot of people have discounted him for the number of goals he's conceded but I never look at that stat when it comes to GKs, mainly because I feel it represents the defense as a whole rather than the GK. I'd rather see his saves stat to truly measure his quality. From the looks of it, I'd be quite content with him as our number 1 next season. He has a good command of his area, seems to have a good reach, has saved numerous penalties in his career, and is only 26 years old (VERY young for a GK). My only issue is the international slot he'd take up. We don't have that many to work with (only 2 remaining) but if we felt he would improve us, then I have no problem using that slot on him.
