Daily Update: 1/11/2020
So I was wrong yesterday. There was news, I just didn't see it. To be fair, I worked 9 hours so I think that warrants as an excuse to miss something. Anyways, let's talk about that and today's news as well.
Coaching Staff Additions (@OrlandoLionsDen)
Orlando City released a video yesterday looking inside the draft room. In the video, former FC Dallas assistant coach Josema Bazan was sitting right next to Pareja while discussing the pick. Obviously this means that he will be a part of the coaching staff but my guess is he will be the assistant coach as our former assistant coach, Daniel Byrd, is no longer a part of the staff. Bazan was also on the Tijuana coaching staff alongside Pareja. It is not uncommon to see coaching staff follow a manager throughout their careers. Coming in alongside Pareja and Josema is Josema's brother Fabian. Fabian is a strength and conditioning coach and will be joining the staff as well. Good stuff from @OrlandoLionsDen for spotting this.
Junior Urso (@jr.urso on Instagram)
Urso posted to his Instagram Stories that he was on a plane with his agent. Of course, the assumption is that Urso is heading to Orlando to sign his contract and begin training camp next week. His announcement should be happening in the coming days and it will be nice to have another unofficial player become official. That leaves Gallese, the last of the four unofficial players (Perea, Carlos, Urso, and Gallese). As I've said before, I like the transfer as we need some experience in the team if we want to compete for playoffs and possible silverware.
